A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been modified using genetic engineering methods by using DNA molecules from different sources which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. In 2003, countries that grew 99 % of the global GMO crops were the United States (63 %), Argentina (21 %), Canada (6 %), Brazil (4 %), China (4 %), and South Africa (1 %).
According to the Grocery Manufacturers of America approximately 75 % of all processed foods in the U.S. contain a GM ingredient. Today, according to Sustainable Table, about 200 million acres of farmland worldwide are now used to grow GMO crops. Soybeans are the most common, demonstrating 63% of all GE crops in total, corn is 19 percent; cotton is 13 percent and canola 5 percent.
The ingredients in your food either contains soy or corn. Not a healthy diet choice. Seeds have also been genetically modified such as tomatoes, alfalfa, potatoes, rice, squash, papaya, flax and chicory. The list is almost endless. Furthermore, animals have also been modified for the human diet. There are chickens capable of laying eggs that contain cancer fighting protein, non-browning apples that produce enzyme polyphenol oxidase, enviro-pigs that are modified to produce 65 percent less phosphorous in their poop and urine, fast growing salmon and hyper-producing seeds. Need I say more. It is time to gain control of a healthy diet.

According to a July 2002 article by Professor David Schubert, with GMO there is no a priori way of predicting the outcome of their production. The cell biologist states “the potential consequence of all of these perturbations could be the production of biomolecules that are either toxic or carcinogenic.” In Professor Schubert’s article he further states that “GM food is not a safe alternative in the diet.”
Many experts agree that genetic engineering is imprecise and highly capable of inducing mutation. All genetic engineering processes lead to unpredictable changes in your DNA, your proteins and your biochemical structure. This can lead to allergenic and/or unexpected toxic effects. GMO diets have been linked to thousands of toxic and allergenic reactions, millions of sterile, diseased, and dead livestock, plus damage to practically every system and organ studied in laboratory animals.
GMO products have had foreign genes forced into their DNA. The implanted gene is typically a virus or bacteria. Ever wonder why there are so many new viruses out there compared to 10 years ago. This is only in theory, but is is very possible. Again, not a healthy diet.
All GMOs are extremely unstable. Unfortunately we do not know the full extent of damage done to the environment and our renewable energy. Nor do we know the overall health consequences. To ensure that you have a safe and healthy diet look for GMO-free products labeled “non-GMO”. Please.
Foods labeled “Natural” or “Healthy”
Always read your labels very carefully. Just because it states that it is natural or healthy does not mean that it is organic or GMO-free. Prime examples are eggs labeled “free-range chickens”. Regulations say that a free-range chicken only needs to be outside for 5 minutes a day. The chickens can spend the rest of the day restrained in tiny small cages and still be labeled free range.
Natural and healthy labels do not guarantee that the product you are buying is organic. As well, there is no assurance that it is GMO-free. Always look for certification. Read your labels thoroughly so you can keep a safe and healthy diet.
After a while you will get to know what companies have high quality products. But even then, companies change. So it doesn’t hurt to check the labels of the tried and true healthy diet products every so often.

The #3, 6 and 7 are also harmful and can leak chemicals into your water, they contain:
